A download in my dreams
“I get inspired by the smallest things. Sometimes my ideas even come like a download in my dreams – that’s the funny ones. It’s difficult to pinpoint one thing that inspires me – I think the way you express yourself is a part of a practice. The more you practice it the more clear your message gets.” Says photographer Sarah Stenfeldt.
“The inspiration behind this photo series was the idea of bringing something one cares deeply about with you, almost as a child brings its pillow or teddy everywhere. That kind of loving attachment played out in nature.”
Sarah was born near the ocean outside of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1992. At a young age Stenfeldt was already exploring her creativity and realising that she stood out from her classmates. “Christmas tree” they called her, as she was sewing her own clothes and later photographing her friends in it. With a very persistent mind and old soul Stenfeldt started working at a model agency which led her into her professional foundation in fashion. After 5 years Stenfeldt attended “Fatamorgana School of Art Photography” which supposed her breakthrough in expressing herself through the media. What she was taught there became a part of her practice after she moved abroad and wandered around by herself in new environments taking pictures of small situations and objects that caught her attention.
Stenfeldt, now based in Copenhagen started her first years of freelancing with clients like GANNI, SAKSPOTTS, HELMSTEDT, DANSK MAGAZINE, ZARA and WOODWOOD.
Stenfeldt’s body of work is intimate, colourful and contemporary. Her imagery is simultaneously, spontaneous and carefully composed.
